But all too quickly, a dark cloud descends and Serena’s eyes open to a harsh truth. It takes courage to dream. For one thing, her father, Thomas, is a hard-nosed realist who doesn’t believe in dreams. For another thing, Thomas’ life-long rival, the nefarious Arvid Steinherz who owns a competing theatre, isn’t going down without a fight. But the true challenge lies within Serena herself. She’s doing her best, but her dance lessons invariably end in disaster. As the grand reopening draws near, Serena’s confidence begins to fade. Until finally, on the night before the reopening, Serena comes face to face with defeat. “I can’t!” are words heard everyday that bring promising dreams to an early end.
